Description
The Roy family gathers at Connor’s ranch in New Mexico for a group therapy session, aiming to mend Logan’s tarnished public image following an unsuccessful vote of no confidence. This episode marks the first appearance of Eric Bogosian, who plays Senator Gil Eavis, a formidable adversary of Logan.
Kendall, estranged from his family and suing Logan for his dismissal from Waystar, faces rumors of a drug relapse, which he denies to Rava. Logan, seeking to improve his reputation post-no-confidence vote, arranges a family therapy weekend at Connor’s New Mexico ranch, Austerlitz, which Kendall initially skips.
The therapy, led by celebrity psychologist Dr. Alon Parfit, yields no results. Shiv, meanwhile, leaves to meet Senator Gil Eavis, Logan’s opponent, and considers joining Eavis’s campaign after a romantic encounter with Nate.
Kendall, indulging in drugs with locals, is later rescued by Roman. The therapy continues unsuccessfully, with Parfit getting injured. Logan assigns Roman a significant task and confronts family issues, including Shiv’s interaction with Eavis and his own role in spreading rumors about Kendall’s drug use.
The episode concludes with family tensions high, Connor feeling exploited, and Logan swimming, revealing scars from past abuse. The episode, written by Lucy Prebble and directed by Miguel Arteta, was filmed in New Mexico. Gil Eavis, portrayed by Bogosian, is inspired by Senator Bernie Sanders, and the title “Austerlitz” references Connor’s interest in Napoleonic history.
