Description
Vincent “Vinny” Fusaro a member of the Colombo crime family was shot in the back of the head as he hung Christmas lights on the door of his Brooklyn home by a crew led by Greg Scarpa . Greg Scarpa hit him behind the ear with an Army type rifle, when the body was down he shot him two more times.
Law-enforcement officials said the Fusaro killing indicated that the struggle among factions within the Colombo crime family has not abated. The murder of Fusaro was carried out by Greg “The Grim Reaper” Scarpa.
Larry Mazza later said: “Greg had an Army type of rifle, an M52. He says, ‘Don’t even get out.’ He rolls down the window and hit him right behind the ear. It was a hell of a shot. Guy went down like a sack of potatoes. But he shot him two more times, once in the neck and one in the body.”
