Description
Mike Tyson’s mansion in Ohio is a story of grandeur, decline, and renewal. Located in Southington Township, about an hour from Cleveland, this mansion was initially built in 1979 for a local politician who later faced corruption charges. Following his release from prison in 1995, Tyson acquired the property, which resonated with him for reasons unknown. During the 1990s, the mansion epitomized luxury but gradually fell into a state of neglect after Tyson left and never returned. The sight of such a splendid estate wasting away was indeed a somber one. However, this once abandoned mansion in Northeast Ohio has now been revived, bringing a new chapter to its storied existence, yet the memories of its desolate years linger in the minds of locals.
Some areas of the mansion remained preserved, almost like a time capsule, while others were extensively damaged. The images reveal the mansion’s state around ten years after it was abandoned. The stark contrast between the decay and the mansion’s former splendor is striking.
It might be hard to envision a wedding in such a place based on these images alone, but the Living Word Sanctuary Church took on the challenge of reviving the once dilapidated property. Over the years, volunteers dedicated their weekends and spare time to convert the abandoned Mike Tyson mansion into a sacred space. Their efforts culminated in late 2019 when the church quietly opened its doors, followed by an official grand opening once the exterior landscaping was completed.
The swimming pool area, previously neglected and unsightly, has been transformed into a beautiful gathering space that can accommodate up to 300 people. While the mansion itself was in poor condition, the surrounding estate retained its natural beauty. Today, the property boasts over three acres of scenic ponds, enhancing the enchanting landscape. The restored mansion now showcases the allure that originally captivated Mike Tyson.
