When I think of Lanterman’s Mill I think of their annual Christmas event(s). I don’t usually come here in the summer but as you can imagine, it’s just as grand in the summer. I believe some local experts renovated the basement floors by the water wheel. I’d like to visit some time and check that particular part out. I heard it’s really amazing because the water wheel is working and it shows just how big the actual structure is. This is another location that offers paths and other cools spots around it. Visit here any time but during the holidays it really comes alive!
One of a kind gem in Mill Creek Park. The setting the building sits on is beautiful itself. Plus, you get a double whammy because the Mill Creek Furnace is also on Pioneer Pavillion’s property. It’s incredible to think the building was built in the early 1800s because it looks so good even today. I’m not sure if that’s due to amazing construction or being maintained so well. It’s probably a little bit of both. There’s an exciting path towards the parking lot that we wanted to explore. We saw some treasure hunters in the water searching the ground with their metal detectors. Before we knew it we were on a path with a serious 20-30 foot dropoff! This was my kind of path but had to turn back because we had kids with us.
Beautiful piece of quiet country. It’s very eerie as you drive you can almost put yourself in Mr. Naples shoes during his final minutes. You see and imagine what he must have been looking at. Did he expect it? Did he see it coming? The street doesn’t have a lot of traffic so there are minimal distractions as you approach the scene.
This is one my favorite spots in the Youngstown, OH area. There is such great documentation such as the 911 audio dispatch. I like to play the 911 audio in my car while driving to the location. It’s a crazy experience and really lets you feel, think and react to what they must have experienced.
I hope to one day interview some of the people involved for Sir Storia!
Thanks for stopping by Simon. I too have been here and can’t help my imagination running wild. In certain spots if I close my eyes I can imagine the battle scenes, sights and sounds.
