Description
Pizzaland, prominently displaying its name as ‘Pizzaland’ on its facade and in media coverage, yet also identified as ‘Pizza Land’ on a different sign, stands as a renowned pizzeria located at 260 Belleville Turnpike in North Arlington, New Jersey. It gained fame for its appearance in the opening credits of the television show “The Sopranos.” Notably, in the “Law & Order” episode ‘Marathon’ (1999, episode 10.6), a pizza box from this establishment played a key role in a plot involving a suspect using it to hide and transport firearms.
The pizzeria’s story began in 1965, founded by Pietro DiPiazza, an Italian immigrant. Later, it was managed by Pietro’s younger brother, Fred Di Piazza, before the ownership eventually passed to Fred’s adopted son, Tony Di Piazza. Around 2005, Al Pawlowicz took over the reins of the restaurant. After Pawlowicz passed away in 2010, the pizzeria temporarily closed its doors for a year. It was then revived by Eddie Twdroos, who purchased and reopened the shop.
