Description
James Hanlon and the Naudet brothers secured permission from the NYC Fire Department to produce a documentary centered on a rookie firefighter, Antonios (Tony) Benetatos. He was stationed at the Engine 7/Ladder 1/Battalion 1 Firehouse in Lower Manhattan. The film was meant to chronicle a newcomer’s journey in firefighting. On the morning of September 11, upon receiving a call about a potential gas leak at Church and Lispenard streets, Battalion Chief Joseph W. Pfeifer led the response. Jules Naudet accompanied Pfeifer, while Gédéon remained at the firehouse, capturing the experiences of the rookie.
This video would be one of three videos that captured American Airlines Flight 11 crash into Tower 1 of the World Trade Center. This intersection is where it was filmed.
